Qualcomm announces The Snapdragon 870 5G successor from 865 Plus

Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 870 5G Mobile Platform, the successor of the Snapdragon 865 Plus which carries the Qualcomm Kryo 585 CPU with speeds of up to 3.2 GHz.

The Snapdragon 870 is designed to provide enhanced performance, including a gaming experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon Elite Gaming, 5G sub-6 GHz and mmWave, as well as highly intuitive AI.

“Building on the success of the Snapdragon 865 and 865 Plus, the new Snapdragon 870 is designed to answer the needs of the cellular and OEM industries,” said Vice President, Product Management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., Kedar Kondap.

“The Snapdragon 870 will power the flagship devices of several key partners such as Motorola, iQOO, OnePlus, OPPO, and Xiaomi,” he continued.

Vice President and President of Global Sales, OPPO, Alen Wu said that utilizing the premium performance presented by the Snapdragon 870 5G Mobil Platform, OPPO will bring products that are more human-centered (human-centered) to consumers.

Meanwhile, over the last few years, Xiaomi’s flagship smartphones have been powered by the Snapdragon 8 Series Mobile Platform.

For the next decade, Vice President of Mi Smartphone and General Manager of Hardware R&D, Xiaomi, Lei Zhang, said he would continue to work closely with Qualcomm to provide a leading mobile experience for Mi Fans.

The first commercial devices powered by Snapdragon 870 are expected to launch in the first quarter of 2021.
