Amazon Opens a COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at US Headquarters

Tech firm Amazon said it would open a temporary clinic at its Seattle, United States headquarters, on January 24 with the aim of vaccinating 2,000 eligible community members for COVID-19.

Amazon’s Senior Vice President of Global Corporate Affairs Jay Carney, who announced the plan, said Amazon would work closely with the Washington State Vaccine Command Center, Reuters reported Friday.

The clinic will be run in partnership with the non-profit Virginia Mason Franciscan Health organization.

The move comes a day after Reuters reported that Amazon had offered to help US President-elect Joe Biden in efforts to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine.

Washington currently allows people 65 and over and people 50 and over who live with multi-generational family members to get vaccinated.

Amazon employs more than 800,000 people in the country and more than 19,000 US workers in Amazon have contracted the coronavirus in September.
