5 Tips for safe downloading of free games

Filling time on weekends by playing games may be a favorite because it is temporarily recommended not to move outside the home during the corona virus pandemic.

Cybersecurity company Kaspersky through an official broadcast recommends not to immediately download everything that is offered for free, including for games, for fear of containing malware.

1. Reliable source

Before downloading a game, Kaspersky asks users to make sure they are downloading from a trusted source, for example the Epic Games Store live site, uPlay or Origin.

Scammers often lure internet users to phishing sites to download games, where they spread malware, for example through games that can be played for free.

Users should not carelessly click on links and download things from unknown sites.

2. Enter the address manually

The best way to visit gaming sites is to manually type them in a browser.

Ha*kers often create hosting addresses that are similar to official websites, in order to trick Internet users. Double check the site address before entering login information such as username and password.

Through this fake site, hackers want to collect login information and hij*ck user accounts.

3. Verified developer

One of the important parts when it comes to downloading a game online is to make sure that the developer studios and game publishers are verified, that they do own the game project.

Look for information about the developer and publisher in advance, if they have a problem, it is likely that the information will enter the game forum.

4. Reviews

Also consider reading reviews from other users before downloading a game, to see if the app is dangerous or not.

5. Turn on protection

After installing a game that is sure to be safe, turn on device protection, such as antivirus, so that suspicious activity can be detected.
